Nusrat Nowrin
Nusrat is a mother, dreamer, mentor and lifelong learner with a passion for exploring multidisciplinary approaches to complex social issues. With a background in trauma-informed care and social research, her work blends faith, science, and lived experience to support emotionally healthy, connected family relationships.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical and Bio-Engineering from the University of Toronto, along with a certificate in Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation. Driven by a deep commitment to faith and community, Nusrat spent four years studying Islamic sciences, earning a Master’s degree, an Advanced Diploma in Islamic Studies, and certification in Quranic Arabic. Her active involvement in the Muslim community during this period led to postgraduate research on domestic violence in Canadian Muslim households—work that revealed both the scale of the issue and the community’s potential to lead transformative change.
Motivated by her own parenting journey and a desire to break cycles of trauma, Nusrat immersed herself in the science of child development, attachment, and trauma. She is a certified Trauma-Informed Care trainer and Parent Coach, supporting families with guidance, resilience-building, and evidence-based tools.
At Guided Roots, it all comes together. Nusrat’s greatest hope is to play a meaningful part in creating a more loving, just, and safe world—for her children, and for generations to come.
