Overview
Guided Roots is a Canadian grassroots organization on a mission to foster the emotional health of individuals & families and prevent family violence in the Muslim community. We are formed to conduct tailored research, advocacy, workshops, training, and support groups for Muslim communities and those who serve them. We are looking for an experienced, creative, innovative and reliable individual, who is skilled at building WordPress websites, running social media campaigns, and is knowledgeable about learning and customer relationship management systems (LMS and CRM). You will be expected to come up with creative solutions, work independently with little oversight and meet tight deadlines. The job is remote and hours flexible.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop visually appealing user-driven websites from design using HTML / CSS / JavaScript / PHP within WordPress CMS and test across browsers, platforms and devices
- Develop both front-end and back-end solutions for the website
- Integrate Learning Management System (LMS), plugins and software to host online courses and webinars
- Set-up an online private forum platform
- Assist in setting up a Customer Relationship Management System (CRM)
- Support and execute UX design improvements
- Plan, implement, test, document, deploy and maintain the website
- Troubleshoot bugs
- Build new features and pages based on organization’s projects
- Propose creative technology platforms to ensure maximum reach and accessibility of learning resources to the target market
- Assist in coordinating social media campaigns
- Assist in any other projects and duties as determined by the board
Job Requirements
- As par the requirement of the Canada Summer Job grant, to be eligible, the applicant must be:
- between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment; and
- a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment (cannot be an International student)
- Background in computer science, software engineering or related field is preferred
In addition, the candidate should have:
- Self-motivation, positivity and a drive to fulfil the organization’s mission
- Working knowledge of content management systems such as WordPress
- Good knowledge of HTML, CSS, PHP and popular JS frameworks
- Understanding of CRM systems will be an asset
- Ability to consistently produce professional-grade, creative, and timely designs
- Ability to work in a team environment, and independently
- Understanding of responsive development and design
- Problem solver, able to come up with creative solutions to diverse problems
- Visual focus to recreate website layouts from provided mock-up artwork
- Ability to juggle multiple projects, prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Piktochart, Canva and/or other related software/apps
- Familiarity with web accessibility practices
- Familiarity with Google Analytics
- Knowledge and experience in marketing, fundraising, and online campaigns is a plus
