Laraib Shaikh is a Jai Certified Parent Coach, full-stack web developer, former chemical engineer, mother, and one of the founding board members of Guided Roots, a community dedicated to helping families create safe, connected, and nurturing homes. She joined Guided Roots in 2020, inspired by her own postpartum journey, which profoundly shaped her understanding of how overwhelming, isolating, and transformative early parenting can be. That experience fueled her passion for creating a space where families feel supported and where parenting is approached with compassion, intention, and connection.

Laraib brings a unique blend of analytical thinking, practical problem-solving, and compassion to her work as both a board member and in-house parent coach. She integrates evidence-based practices within a culturally sensitive, faith-based framework, and her work is grounded in a trauma-informed perspective, supported by training in trauma-informed care and foster parenting. She is especially passionate about helping parents understand behaviour as communication, break intergenerational patterns, and develop practical tools that foster resilience, connection, and emotional well-being within the family.

Laraib holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and Society with a minor in Business from McMaster University. She also brings multidisciplinary experience working with public and charitable organizations, where she has supported initiatives and facilitated workshops serving vulnerable Muslim communities and youth at risk of addiction.

She believes that when parents increase their own capacity through self-awareness, regulation, and healing, they are better equipped to strengthen their connection with their children and cultivate secure, nurturing relationships.
