DESCRIPTION

Join us as we take on the challenges of something that is both a critical community building block and a major source of stress: parenting.

Throughout this eight-sessions bi-weekly series, we will be exploring research-based strategies from the best-selling book, The Whole-Brain Child that will help you understand the brain science behind tantrums, navigate through day-to-day struggles, and cultivate your child’s healthy emotional development. You will be part of a supportive virtual community of parents just like you, who are trying to raise loving children who thrive both spiritually and emotionally. During every session and within your online community, you will have the opportunity to identify practical ways of applying these strategies into your parenting journey. This is where we unwind, learn and connect to be the best parents that we can be for our children.

FAQ

Who is this for?

Parents or expectant parents. From time to time, participant-led discussions may focus on cultural topics such as raising Muslim children in Canada, however, everyone is welcome in the Parenting Space.

Do I have to read the book?

Participants will be highly encouraged to read the assigned portions before the sessions, however, it’s not mandatory for attendance. The facilitator will be summarizing the assigned chapters at the beginning of the sessions for guided discussions themed around the topic.

Do I have to buy the book?

If you are reading the book, then yes! Here are some of the places you can purchase the book from:

  1. Hardcopy: Amazon
  2. E-book: Amazon, Google Play, Apple Books
  3. Audio Book: Amazon (free with Audible trial)

Are the groups Females or Males only?

There will be two separate groups, one for Mothers only (3:00 to 4:00 PM) and one for Fathers only (4:30 to 5:30 PM). We will be following the same schedule for both to make sure that if both parents are attending then they are on the same page. However, some sessions or part of the sessions, such as the first, last and guest speaker sessions will be mixed. Please feel free to turn off your video if it makes you uncomfortable.

There will be only one virtual community group for all participants of The Parenting Space.

Is this free?

Yes! Because this is the first ever Parenting Space group, and YOU are special. There may be a small fee for the guest speaker sessions (TBD) to help us cover the costs, but you will be informed in advance if that will be the case.

How large is a group?

We will limit each group to only 10 participants to ensure maximum learning and engagement. Participants will be welcomed on a first-come-first serve basis. While at this point, we can’t promise if there will be a second group or more sessions, if you miss this group, please send us an email at info@guidedroots.ca. If there is enough interest, then may be we will host another group soon (and with a new book too!) And we will definitely keep you on the waiting list.

So what are you waiting for?
